Almost daily people share with me their problems! I am so thankful that God’s Word addresses life’s issues with life changing truth! The Apostle Paul describes the Gospel as being “the power of God unto salvation!” Consider the demon possessed man in Mark 5:1-20. You talk about problems, this man had PROBLEMS!!! According to Matthew, Mark and Luke his life was for the most part destroyed. His life was falling apart. He lost his family, his job, his sanity and his health! He was but an empty shell of a man! He had no hope! Then he met Jesus! Jesus cast many demons out of him and changed his life! The power of Satan had gripped him and torn him apart! Jesus gave him new LIFE! The Word of God is filled with examples of people with PROBLEMS… BIG PROBLEMS! Jesus is able to save and change anyone who comes to Him for help! Jesus gave him his life back! Jesus gave him real LIFE! Jesus Christ is sufficient to help you and heal you regardless of the PROBLEMS you face! What a great story! What a great Savior! What a great life… NEW LIFE! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” So then, “What’s your problem?” Take it to Jesus! Turn to Jesus! HE IS SUFFICIENT!
Our recent VBS blessed and helped me to see our church families in a new and fresh way! What a great opportunity the Lord gave me and Cheryl with our families! I want to encourage you as a dad and as a mom to seek the Lord and to point your children to Christ. Remember, those little eyes and ears are always taking in what they see and what they hear from you! Love the Lord with all your heart and make it clear that Jesus Christ is Lord of all you are and all you have!!! This is a fallen world. Our children need hope! They need to see that you have hope! Let Jesus be seen in you. Pursue Christ and His purpose for your life… your need HIM and so do your children! Someone has said, “The church is only as strong as its families.” Think on these things!
See you tonight at 6:30 pm for Wednesday Night Prayers. Join us!!!
Let’s Pray Together!
Pastor Mike and Cheryl <><
What a great week of ministry! Cheryl and I have been in an Adult VBS class all week. Our goal was to invest time in our families. What a joy! We wanted to connect our Moms and Dads with their children. Each night we have taught Moms and Dads the same lessons their children were taught! Nightly we have discussed the lessons with our families in mind. Our hope is that our parents would engage their children in conversation relating to their VBS lessons. Needless to say, we have had fun talking through the responses of our children to the questions they have been asked. What an enjoyable week with our parents!!! We have averaged over 20 adults each evening. Here’s a big hearty “THANK YOU!” to everyone that attended our ADULT VBS class! MOMS AND DADS, Thank you for your faithfulness! God bless you as you raise your children to love and serve Jesus!
Just over a week ago, Cheryl and I flew to Alaska. Our grandniece asked us to come to her church and baptize her. Ruthie was insistent that we come there for the service. After talking with her parents we purchased our tickets and set out for Alaska. What a trip; it was quick but very fruitful! Not only were we able to spend time with our family, we were able to be involved in ministry as well! Pastor John at Soldotna Bible Chapel was gracious in allowing me to preach to his wonderful congregation. I shared a message on The Great Commission from Matthew 28:16-20. The Lord is good… Cheryl and I are so thankful for every opportunity we have to share the Gospel. What a joy baptizing Ruthie and sharing God’s Word!
In closing this email, I want to pray for our church and our families. Satan does not want you, your family or Grace Church to be used by the Lord! I know the Lord wants to use us all. The Lord wants your family to magnify Jesus in all of His glory! The Lord wants you and me to share the Gospel. He wants to use our lives, our families and our friends to spread His glorious Gospel. Pray with me, “Lord, thank You for Jesus! Thank You for Your Gospel! Thank You for saving me from destruction. Thank you Lord, for redeeming me from all of my sins. Lord, use me and use my family to bring many souls into Your Kingdom. You have brought me into Your Kingdom through Your precious Son Jesus! Now use me to point others to Him, for His glory, for Your glory! In Jesus name, Amen!”
Let the Lord have His way in your heart! He is worthy of every word of praise you can offer! 1 Corinthians 16:24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen!
God’s Word details the last days of Jesus’ life! Scripture graphically describes what happened to Him just before He died on the cross. The Bible also highlights His post-resurrection appearances. John’s Gospel tells us what happened to Thomas when he met the glorified Christ! What a meeting! How would you respond when you realized that Christ was indeed risen from the dead as He promised? What would you say? What did Thomas say? John allows us to listen in on the conversation! In John 20:28 John reveals to us Thomas’ words when he saw Jesus. Thomas said, “My Lord and my God!” Our original question was, “Who is Jesus?” Is Jesus your Lord and your God? Or is He simply someone you go to when you are in trouble? Is Jesus a “pick me up” when you’re down? Is Jesus someone you hope shows up when you need help? For “Doubting Thomas” Jesus was “Lord and God!” Thomas became a martyr for his “Lord and God.” Tradition tells us that Thomas was pierced through by a spear, probably in India. I read this years ago, “Jesus died for me, the least I can do is live for Him!” Friends, it’s true, Jesus is “My Lord and My God.” Let Jesus live through you! Let others see Jesus in You! He’s alive, alive in you!
The Lord continues to bless Grace Church! So far we have been used in Walterboro, SC, in the Bahamas and in our recent Children’s Camp in Western Carolina. Vacation Bible School is just around the corner. Michael and Julie and others are making plans right now for this wonderful week of ministry to our families and their children. Cheryl and I will be teaching an Adult VBS using the same Scriptures that our children will be using! We have never done this before; needless to say we are looking forward to it! Plan now to join other families here at Grace Church for this unique ministry. Ask the Lord what you can do to help… there is a place for you!
Our Wednesday evening Prayer Meetings are moving forward. Presently around 40-50 people are praying weekly. Make plans to join these special times of fellowshipping with the Lord in prayer. Praying together builds relationships! Jesus taught His disciples to pray together! I am glad He did… we should do likewise! Acts 1:14 “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.” Brothers and sisters, praying together is God’s way of bringing His people together. See you there… Wednesday’s at 6:30 pm! God bless you!
